Lahinch is a pretty good wave spot situated on the west coast of Ireland between Galway and Limerick. There are 2 possible sailing spots here, the first one is right off the main beach by the town. This spot really only works in a North or North West wind , but can on a good day provide amazing starboard tack jumping and waveriding. It is advisable to launch as far up the beach away from the town as possible otherwise the surfers will get a little pissed off with windsurfers dropping in on them, but the beach is long enough with enough sections to the wave for everyone to have fun. This spot is not worth sailing about 1 hour either side of high tide, as the waves break onto the rocks making getting back out of the water close to impossible, and if something goes wrong you can definatley say goodbye to your board and rig. The second spot is along the road towards the Cliffs of Mothair, Once out of the town drive over the bridge and pass the pitch and put ground on your left. Right after the pitch and putt course there is a small layby that you can park about 3 or 4 cars in with a field where you can rig up and walk straight onto the beach. This spot works in winddirections from South to West/North West. The further north along the beach you are the smaller the waves (mostly). This beach can be sailed at all states of tide but it is a little gusty on the inside at high tide. Be carefull of hitting your fin on the rocks when coming in to the beach at highwater. Sandy Beach, with rocks or stones near high tide.
From Limerick or Galway head to Ennis, Follow Signposts for Lahinch from Ennis. The town beach is the main car park that is signposted, I would advise the other spot though... Head towards the cliffs of mothair, Once out of the town drive over the bridge and pass the pitch and put ground on your left. Right after the pitch and putt course there is a small layby that you can park about 3 or 4 cars in with a field where you can rig up and walk straight onto the beach. If you get as far as Liscannor you have gone to far, turn around and it is the first spot where you can see the water. Parking: The Carpark at the town beach can get very busy with surfers at weekends, the other spot only has space for 3-4 cars, but there is a small carpark around the corner,
